GIS Web services in spatial analysis and decision-making
Abstract
GIS Web services will be fundamental to the way in which spatial analysis and decision-making is conducted in the future. This paper briefly outlines the basis of Web service architecture and introduces some of the key protocols around which important standards are beginning to form. It then illustrates the nature of the role that Web services will increasingly play in spatial analysis and decision-making by examining the application of this technology in a number of international examples.
