Abstract

Results of the preliminary study of the rodent faunas from Pliocene localities in the Hadar formation (Ethiopia) are presented here. The most surprising result is the presence of several species of modern Indian murids which seems to indicate an easy communication between these two adjacent areas. Ecological data on living rodents are used to propose a reconstruction of the palaeo environment of this hominid-bearing formation.
