Abstract

Cyclic loading due to waves forms an important component of the forces acting on structures in the North Sea ( Bjerrum, 1973 ; Høeg, I976). There is a particular need to make reliable assessments of the strength and deformation parameters of the medium to stiff clays on which many of the structures in the North Sea are founded.
