Characteristic Features of the Materials Used
Abstract
Polymer concretes can be produced using practically any synthetic binder and also any filler or aggregate. However, considering the cost and availability of resources, requirements of density, strength, deformability, chemical resistance, and several other properties, only a comparatively small number (12 to 15 types) of polymer binders are used in the highly developed countries to produce polymer concretes. However, taking into consideration the various combinations between these monomers and oligomers and the possibilities of modifying the polymer binders of a given type with additives, the number of polymer binders used at present runs into several dozens.
