Effect of Temperature and Fire on Polymer Concrete Structures
Abstract
Along with several positive properties, polymer materials and the plastics based on them suffer from many vital deficiencies, amongst which are the low thermal stability and the combustibility of many of the polymer compositions produced. The extent of filling of plastics with various inorganic materials is generally 30-60% by weight. Naturally, the greater the extent of filling and, correspondingly, the smaller the amount of polymer in the mix, the greater the increase in thermal stability and the lesser the possibility of inflammation of such a material. But, even at this level of filling most of the plastics bum quite well.
