Long-term durability of materials for rockfill dams
Abstract
Long-term natural exposure tests at each dam site for 11 years and various laboratory tests for judging durability of rock materials were carried out for rock materials of 12 types used at 10 rockfill dams in Japan. As results, (1) the longterm deterioration processes of materials in exposure tests, (2) the relationships between degree of deterioration in exposure tests and meteorological and geological conditions, and (3) the correlations between degree of deterioration in exposure tests and the results of laboratory tests for judging durability of rock materials were obtained.
