Abstract

It was stated that at gleying clay rocks of Kolkhety lose their structural strength. This is due to biochemical weathering accompanied by persistent subtraction of many chemical elements out of rockforming minerals. To restore the lost strength and to improve physical and mechanical rock properties laboratory and field tests were set up with employment of electrochemical rock treatment. Iron electrodes were supplemented by 5% aqueous solution of potassium permanganate. It was revealed that electrochemical treatment following the proposed technique provides considerable improvement of the primary aqueous and strength properties of soils through formation of stable water-resisting bondings and new formations. In due time colloids age and the new formations get recrystallized thus making the soils unsoakable.
