Abstract

Some practical problems of the analysis of the marl eluvium have been shown in a present paper. Causes of differences in the groundwater level/from the depth of 1 to 8 m below the surface/ have been discussed concerning the dynamics of water level in relation to the local hydrogeological conditions’. The phenomenon of transition of the marl eluvium from debris to the cohesive soil has been analyzed basing on studies on the physico - chemical events causing those changes. Due to the research as well as the observations “in situ” it has been stated that the swelling phenomenon represents the main factor responsible for the change of filtration properties of the Opole marls.
