Abstract

The area under investigation is about 48 km 2 . The location is shown in fig. 1 . The Obi Coal deposit, which is within the area, has been considered as a possible source of cokeable coal to supply the Nigeria’s first Steel Complex at Ajaokuta. The important role that this deposit could play in the economy of the country necessitated a thorough investigation which was started by Nigerian Steel Development Authority (N.S.D.A.) in 1973.
