Abstract

Mudded shear zone in claystone intercalation is a visco-elastic system as same as clay. Its ballavi our is much different from that of the claystone and significantly concerned in the weak bonds between clay domains, the contact of inter-domain has been indirectly brought about by the “thick” surface solvation layers. In the varying mudded shear zones their engineering properties including rheological property and residual strength are various. These differences, are resulted from various thickness of the surface solvation layer and tightness of the bonds of inter-domain. The change of behaviour of mudded shear zone under the action of infiltration water with different chemical type is various.
