Abstract

In connection with the development of the oil and gas fields in the North Sea there have been installed 14 gravity structures and about 120 piled structures, the majority in the southern part of the North Sea. In addition a large number of transmission pipelines have been laid over the last 10 years and still more are under design or construction. Regular inspection of these structures is an important task and some of the observations and experiences made with respect to scour are presented.
