Abstract

I have a question I should like to ask Mr Rust. Fig. 3 of his paper shows liquid limit of the soils to lie between 30 and 40 and the natural moisture contents between 40 and 60%, well above the liquid limit. This should imply that if remoulded, the material would become liquid, like the materials encountered in Norway or Canada where they have quick clays which are completely liquid after remoulding. Was this found with this type of material? How was the soil treated before the liquid limit was measured? Was it dried out and did the drying affect the liquid limit?
