Abstract

To provide engineers with design parameters and data for ground freezing using liquid nitrogen.Tests on an industrial scale with two and three freeze holes in series were performed. The thermodynamic records of the freezing period, temperature distribution in the ground, growth and thawing progress of the ice wall were documented. Also, the relationship between the dimensions of the ice wall and consumption of liquid nitrogen was established.
