Conclusion
Abstract
The myths connected with the earth-the earth as mother, the earth as nurse, the earth as lover-have often been depicted in literature, painting and sculpture. Our concern has been to regard her as a storehouse of memories, as the custodian of man’s imprints and the bearer of his creations, an earth that allows herself to be hollowed, cleaved and opened as man penetrates her surface, penetrates her depths and even the bottom of her seas.
