Archaeological Sediments from Leopard's Hill Cave, Zambia
Abstract
Matrix attached to the excavated fauna from Leopard’s Hill Cave (Zambia) was systematically removed to provide preliminary data on the important archaeo-sedimentary sequence at this site. The analytical results show remarkable overall continuity in textural composition, but indicate a prominent role for human and animal activities in deposition. Evidence for more rapid chemical disaggregation of the schistose roof rock after 16 500 BP may indicate a slightly moister environment than during the previous nine millennia.
