Dune Sediments
Abstract
The Namib Sand Sea is composed dominantly of yellowish brown to yellowish red medium to fine (Wentworth scale) quartz sand. The sediments which are contained in the dunes of the sand sea, together with those of the interdune areas are the product of the ongoing process of sand sea accumulation. Their character provides information on how the sand sea has developed and the nature of the sedimentary processes involved.
