Abstract

The morphology of desert dunes is a product of interactions between the sand surface and the wind. The nature of the interactions is modified as the dune grows and projects into the air flow, creating secondary flow patterns. Two main aspects of dune morphology need to be considered: the type of dunes which occur in an area; and their size and spacing.
