Abstract

Network theory and heuristics seem to be the most promising techniques for solving the production scheduling problem in underground mines. A heuristic model has been developed based upon scheduling rules commonly used by mining engineers. It provides the engineer with a powerful tool for evaluating alternate schedules. The only requirement for the program is that the section definitions are available in a machine readable format.
