Abstract

A flotation column circuit simulator written in BASIC (IBM-PC) is presented. It comprises a scale-up model of a flotation column and a networking routine. The circuit is represented by arrangements of three types of ideal nodes: junctions, splitters and flotation columns. The experimental parameters required are the collection rate constants and the solids carrying capacity of the system. The use of the simulator for preliminary design of column flotation circuits is illustrated through a case study. Emphasis is on the impact of recycle and bias water rate on circuit capacity.
