Abstract

The block modelling capability of the DATAMINE software system allows the splitting of any part of a model into cuboid sub-cells. Tins cell division allows the incorporation locally of any amount of detail into any region of a model. A computerised model of a three-dimensional surface can be generated by linking perimeters on adjacent sections. In DATAMINIE, this procedure allows triangulated wireframe models to be developed for geological boundaries or mined excavations. Such models can be converted into block models, or intersected with existing block models. This combination of modelling techniques has many applications in underground mine planning.
