SENTRIE MINOS - Mine monitoring and control systems
Abstract
The data communication strategy adopted by British Coal, ICON (Integrated Communications Network), provides the mining industry with a framework within which to develop and introduce new technology. SENTRIE MINOS, a mine monitoring and control system, designed using the above standards, enables a colliery to install a small or medium sized system using a low speed transmission, and later as the system is extended, to add the high speed system simply and at relatively low cost. This means that there can be a low initial cost without restricting future developments either in size or choice of manufacturer.
