Abstract

The development, implementation and highlights of a major payroll administration system at Inco Limited’s Ontario Division is described. The network of nearly 500 terminals assists front line supervisors to input raw data and retrieve appropriate data base information. An organization of more than 6500 hourly paid personnel, distributed throughout 10 mines and 15 geographically separate surface plants is serviced on line. Manual auditing of input documents is all but obsolete. The result is a lower cost payroll process and multi-level access to current information. To date more than $100 million dollars of payroll have been dispersed.
