Interaction of cracks under thermal shock loading - A preliminary study
Abstract
A numerical study of crack interaction phenomena in a thick-walled cylindrical section under thermal shock loading is presented. Results are given in terms of stress intensity factors as depending on the ratio of crack depth and crack distance. It appears that even small neighbouring cracks may significantly reduce the stress intensity factor of an embedded deep crack.
