Fatigue analysis methods of crack like defects II. Applications and validations
Abstract
Geometric singularities are parts of designed sharp notches. Their radii are not well defined and their small values give back impossible the definition of stress state in the tip. The conventional fatigue analysis methods are not applicable to such parts. The damaging process which leads to the initiation of cracking at the geometrical singularity necessarily affects a zone of a finite size which length should be a characteristic dimension of the microstructure of the material.
