Seismic analysis of high-speed rotating machinery
Abstract
This paper deals with seismic analysis of high-speed rotating machinery such as a large fan-motor system. It is the aim of the paper to estimate the percentage influence of various design parameters such as bearing oil-film stiffnesses and bearing pedestal flexibilities on the three-dimensional seismic response of a typical fan-motor rotor-bearing system. The finite element method is used and response spectrum analysis is carried out for a range of rotational speeds. Results are presented in tabular form.
