Spectral methods with filtering for the seismic response of equipments
Abstract
Large tanks containing low pressure liquid are rather thin structures; for them seismic excitation can be an important cause of collapse. In order to avoid increase of thickness it can be foreseen to build tanks on filtering supports. For the designer the problem is then to determine stiffness and damping of the filter: a parametric study has then to be carried out. The present paper deals with possible simple methods that can be used for this kind of parametric study.
