Abstract

Nuclear power plants in Japan are required to be supported on a firm rock site of which shear wave velocity must be 700m/sec or higher. It is predicted that an increase in demand for electric power may fill up existing firm rock sites available and make it difficult to find such a firm rock site in the future.
