Abstract

In order to investigate various factors of damage to road slopes, a statistical analysis using multi–variate theory was applied to the slope collapses occurring due to local rain. In this study, rainfall condition, type of slope (cut, embankment and natural slopes), gradient of slope, type of earth material, type of protective method, were examined by quantification method type–Ill. It was shown that the collapse of the igneous rock slope occurred through both severe local and preceding rainfalls, and the critical rainfall curve is presented. The quantification analysis reveals that the form of collapse is strongly related to the type of soil, and can be classified into three types.
