Abstract

On the basis of theoretical considerations general rules are given for transforming the engineering-geological model of the geological environment into the geotechnical model of an engineering problem within this environment. Categories of geotechnical models are defined and illustrated on examples. The engineering character of geotechnical work is emphasized.
