Abstract

Effects of a particle breaxage of decomposed granite soil are studied with special:-eference to compaction and permeability characteristics for engineering use as soil materials. These effects are investigated through laboratory experiments, Proctor’s compaction and falling-head permeability tests. Tt was observed that the maximum density of the soil increased considerably with increase in compaction effort. As t:-,e cor,1paction energy is increased, the content of fine particles is increased and waterpermeability is lowerec considerably. The reduction of permeability of the specimen can explained in terms of compaction repetition.
