Abstract

In this paper, the distribution and changes of the stresses in a slope was analysed with the method of the finite elements, when an artificial slope was excavated in a natural slope. The results obtained show that if natural slope angle is same, the vertical stress and the maximum shear stress increased obviously when the artificial slope angle increased in the slope foot, and a new tensile region formed and developed in the point of slope angle changed. The effects of results on the slope design were also discussed in this paper.
