Abstract

Lubuge dam is one of highest core type rockfill dams being constructed now in China. In this paper Biot’s consolidation theory is used to predict the movement of various zones of dam body and pore pressure response in the core during its construction, reservoir filling and drawdown of water level. In the analyses three stress-strain models of soils, namely the revised Cambridge model, Duncan’s nonlinear hyperbolic model and a new developed elasto-plastic hyperbolic model are compared with each others.
