A comprehensive numerical model of rock joints and its implementation in a finite element model
Abstract
The numerical model of rock joints comprises stress-, path- and size-dependent coupling of shear stresses, shear displacements, dilation, normal stresses, joint closure and tension failure. The efficiency of the numerical model and of the algorithms are demonstrated using practice relevant examples.
