Application of a joint model to concrete-sandstone interfaces
Abstract
An elastoplastic shear hardening and softening model for the behaviour of bonded concrete-sandstone interfaces is presented. The model incorporates the gradual degradation of the cohesive component of shear strength (i.e. softening) with shear displacement, as well as the mobilisation of the frictional component of strength (i.e. hardening) as the shearing creates a rupture surface. The model is capable of matching well the behaviour of bonded interfaces observed in laboratory direct shear tests.
