Triaxial creep properties of frozen soil and their measurement
Abstract
A ‘low temperature box ——triaxial cell’ testing equipment system have been made for carrying on compression strength and creep test in conditions of triaxial stresses. In the course of the testing the authors adopted the methods of artificially making specimens of frozen clay and used them to carry out the long-term creep tests at triaxial stress states so that the creep curves of the frozen clay were derived. According to the test results, three types of nonlinear creep equations are proposed to describe the nonlinear creep behaviour of frozen clay at different temperatures.
