Abstract

A method of analysis is presented which enables the downdrag forces acting on a single compressible pile to be computed. The tip of the pile is assumed to be resting on a perfectly rigid base, while the surrounding soil is treated as a poroelastic material which is consolidating under a surface loading. Slip is allowed between the pile and the soil according to an effective stress law.
