Transient effects in geohydrological systems
Abstract
The commonly used formulas which describe groundwaterflow in layered soil of sand and clay do not correctly reflect the processes in slowly draining layers when time–dependent conditions are imposed. A simple and sound method has been developed suitable to formulate transient effects in a consistent way. Formulas developed with this method are useful in practice, which is shown in this contribution by practical application to transient groundwater flow under sea dykes.
