Abstract

Ice is a specific monomineral rock, widely distributed in the regions of intensive economic activities of a man. Nowadays investigations are under way into its application as cheap constructional material in artificial engineering structures for different special purposes: river crossings, drilling platforms, moorages, piers, ice aerodromes· The accumulated experience in the USSR and abroad in application of the large-scale ice-soil massifs as engineering structures makes their wide application significant.
