Large-scale model studies of arockbolted tunnel
Abstract
A new loading frame constructed at the U.S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station, provides a unique capability for subjecting large blocks of material to true triaxial states of stress. A series of tests of model rockbolted tunnel sections was conducted in a rock simulant to evaluate the influence of rockbolt length. The test results clearly suggest less tunnel closure for shorter rockbolts.
