Simulation of field tests in Avery Island dome salt
Abstract
Considerable research has been performed to determine a satisfactory constitutive law that characterizes the behavior of rock salt. This paper presents the predictions of three viscoplastic models of several in situ corejack tests. The results indicate the models attributed to Krieg and Munson-Dawson are more appropriate for modeling the creep behavior of salt than the Exponential-Time model.
