Abstract

Hydromechanical fluid-rock interaction models developed for the interpretation and design of HDR processes and treatments are described. Many aspects of these models are relevant to other areas of rock mechanics analysis and design. The philosophy of past and future model development is discussed in terms of the limits imposed by the complex environment of a stressed jointed rock mass. It is concluded that interactive models must, currently be limited to simple joint geometries which should be in three dimensions.
