Abstract

Multiple fracturing of rock occurs when a borehole is pressurized at a high enough rate. A hydraulic tool designed to produce high pressures and load rates in a borehole has been built. Tests confirm that the tool is capable of producing multiple fractures and has application to excavation of confined rock.
