A time-transgressive kinetostratigraphic sequence spanning 180° in a single section at Bradtville, Ontario, Canada
Abstract
Glacial tectonic and soft-sediment deformation structures in a new exposure of Torcermeli Formation sediments at Bradtville, Ontario, record three local directions of glacial advances during the Late Wisconsinan. Prominent NW-dipping reverse faults and shear planes formed during an early advance of the Huron Lobe from the NW. Later interlobate flow of the Huron and Erie lobes produced N-dipping shear planes, various softsediment deformational features, associated extensional faults and boudinaged layers. Finally, during advance of the Erie lobe from SE, the Catfish Creek till was deposited on already-deformed sediments of the Tyrconnell Formation, and a few SE-dipping shear planes formed; an older NW-dipping fault zone was filled with sediments and transformed into a extension fracture at this time.
