Abstract

The extent and economic significance of landslides in Antarctica are insignificant at present. Areas of high relief and volcanic activity do pose some potential problems but population numbers are so low that risk to humans is minor. Some glacial processes operating by forces similar to those causing landslides do pose potential future risks both in Antarctica and globally. Subantarctic islands have a greater landslide potential.
