Abstract

Fog computing brings computing near devices and solves the latency issues in cloud computing-based service execution environment. Sifting execution to edge devices brings many challenges concerning privacy and security to the users. Numerous attacks on user privacy and data integrity can be initiated by malicious fog nodes. They may have an impact on the services provided in a fog computing environment. Therefore, in a fog computing environment, it is crucial to improve user data security and privacy and boost the trust of fog computing nodes. The current trust computation methods and associated issues in the fog computing environment are critically analyzed in this work. The research gaps and challenges in ensuring user data security and privacy in the fog computing environment are determined via analysis. A prospective solution architecture to address the identified research gaps is also detailed.
