Abstract

The arising numbers of psychological and emotional disorders have made mobile mental health services a necessity. These services must be regularly updated to remain relevant, inclusive, and improve user experience. Similarly, building on our previous work iCare, a mental health chatbot, we have now upgraded it with the integration of voice assistance. Trained on LibriSpeech datasets and using DeepSpeech, this upgrade uses Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) to seamlessly convert Speech to Text. This increases the ease of access for people who might have difficulty typing or users who prefer speaking their mind. This update humanizes the model and preserves its empathetic nature to some extent as users feel more connected while speaking. This integration has had a positive impact on the response generation and speech conversion. This model seeks to bridge the gap in mental support by making it more accessible with more compassionate care. The future enhancements would involve context sensitivity and a multi-lingual model for higher personalization.
