Abstract

The human body contains several steroids, many of which are important as sex hormones. Synthetic hormones were first made as medicines; subsequently, they (and testosterone) have been abused by athletes. Steroids have an important role in contraception. The natural hormone oxytocin and synthetic substances like Sildenafil have significant roles in sexual behaviour.
