Abstract

Chemistry is closely involved in the senses, most obviously in the case of smell. Smell is very sensitive to molecular shape, where small changes can produce very different smells, most evidently in the case of chiral isomers. Insects, especially social insects like bees and ants, make use of molecules, particularly in communication.
