Abstract

Photocatalytic hydrogen production through water splitting is a crucial technology in the move toward sustainability and better environmental management. Metal alloy photocatalysts have gained substantial attention for their potential contributions to hydrogen production. This chapter explores the use of metal alloy-based photocatalysts in hydrogen production via water splitting. It discusses the fundamental principles of water splitting, emphasizes noble metal alloys as effective catalysts, and examines various optimization strategies pertaining to their improved surface-interfaced active sites. Additionally, the chapter highlights the emergence of high-entropy alloys in the photocatalytic process for hydrogen generation.
