Additional CT Procedures, IV and IA contrast applications, and CT guided biopsies
Abstract
This chapter dives into additional computed tomography (CT) procedures, most importantly contrast application. A CT examination is not complete if no intravenous (IV) contrast medium is administered. The chapter also considers the use of arthrography in CT, a diagnostic imaging technique that has been used for decades in human medicine to enhance the visualization of intra-articular structures that cannot be seen clearly on plain radiographs. Next, we focus on percutaneous CT-guided biopsy of musculoskeletal lesions and spinal osseous lesions and then conclude with loading conditions and subchondral bone density.
